How To Select The Best Pair Of Earphones

Published 4 years ago in Product News + Updates - 0 Comments

You’re in the market for a new pair of earphones, but there’s just so many to choose from.

How will you ever decide?

Let the earHero Sports team help with our handy guide to buying the best pair of earphones.

First off, decide on how you’re planning to use the earphones.  Will you be listening  to your high end home stereo?  Then a good pair of Over-The-Ear or DJ style headphones may be the answer.

Maybe you want something for the airplane during business trips.   Noise cancelling earphones may be where you want to look.

Or perhaps you’re planning to wear them while running or cycling on the weekends.  Then safety conscious, high quality earbuds might be your best choice.

Each use comes with its own set of needs that you’ll need to keep in mind.

Sound Quality

Once you know how you’re planning to use your earphones you’ll be able to determine the sound quality you need.  For general use or home listening sound quality will be much more important.  If you’re using them for exercise or in the office, sound quality may not be quite as important.  Yes you want something that sounds good, but if your primary purpose isn’t the music itself then you may not want to shell out for the higher end products since you likely won’t be able to tell the difference anyway.

The one thing you’ll want to avoid is choosing something with poor sound quality.  Cheap models (and even some mid range for that matter) use low quality speakers.  Poor sound quality leads to higher listening volumes which in turn leads to hearing loss.  No one wants that.

Component Quality

Along with sound quality you’ll want to consider the materials used to make your headphones.  Are the earbuds made of cheap plastic?  Are the cords hefty enough to handle the wear and tear of repeated gym sessions?  Are the earpieces removable or easily accessed for cleaning? (Ear wax buildup has ruined many a pair of earphones)

Having earbuds that don’t fit properly leads to ear fatigue and discomfort.  Plus they fall out ALL THE TIME.   Cheap components fall apart easily, requiring replacement on a more regular basis.

Make sure the earphones you choose are sturdy, easily cleanable and well constructed.  Well crafted earphones, when properly maintained will have you listening to your favorite tunes for many years to come.

A proper fit goes a long way when it comes to earphones.  Whether you’re wearing earbuds or over-the-ear style earphones, a bad fit can ruin an otherwise enjoyable music experience.

Earbuds should have multiple size options. Most people have significant differences in the size and shape of each ear canal, leading to problems with “One Size Fits All” earbuds.  It turns out that “One Size Fits All” actually “Doesn’t Fit Most”.

Over the ear style earphones should have a comfortable pad that rests on the ears and should not sit too tightly against the sides of your head.  Earphones that fit too tightly can lead to ear pain and headaches.

Unfortunately, most consumers don’t consider comfort when buying earphones.  This leads to disappointment when an otherwise excellent pair is essentially unwearable.

Pretty easy here.  Don’t spend more than you can afford.  Don’t go too cheap just to save a few bucks.

Whether you’re looking to spend $50 or $250, there is a pair of earphones that will fit your needs.  On the low end you might have to settle for less on some other features but with proper research you can find something in your price range that will work great.

Just remember, that $9.99 pair of earbuds in the bargain bin is priced there for a reason.  As with everything, you get what you pay for.

Whether you’re running, cycling, skiing, working in the yard, cutting down trees or working construction, you need to be aware of your surroundings.  Some people are content listen with one earbud in, and that’s fine if you only want to listen to half of the music.

Luckily, with earHero Sports, you get the benefit of listening to your music in both ears while allowing surrounding noise in.  You can hear the other runners on the trail.  You can hear what’s going on at the jobsite.  You can hear that bear sneaking up behind you while working in the forrest (OK maybe that one’s a stretch but you get the point).

And even better, earHero Sport earphones provide value in all the other areas as well.  earHero Sport earphones feature the highest quality speakers and components, are comfortable enough to wear for hours on end and won’t hurt your budget.

If you’re in the market for a new set of earphones, give earHero Sport a try.  You won’t be disappointed.
